On September 10th, the Xiaoxian People's Government of Anhui Province and the China Industrial Corrosion Protection Technology Association signed the 4th China International Corrosion Control Conference Cooperation Agreement in Beijing and announced that the conference will be held in Xiaoxian County in November next year.
According to Wang Yinhai, president of the China Industrial Corrosion Protection Technology Association, the annual losses caused by corrosion to China account for about 4% of the national GDP. In 2007, the economic losses caused by corrosion in the industrial system of the country were about 800 billion yuan. At present, almost all major projects in China, such as the Beijing Bird Nest Project, the Shanghai Yangshan Port Terminal Project, the Three Gorges Project, the Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge Project, and the Qingdao Bay Bridge Project, have listed anti-corrosion as a key project, and only the Qingdao Bay Bridge has been initially identified. Anti-corrosion investment reached 100 million yuan.
Xiaoxian County is one of the important origins of the national anti-corrosion industry. In 2005, it was named “China's first anti-corrosion industry countyâ€. In 2006, the county's anti-corrosion construction personnel amounted to 120,000, and the anti-corrosion industry's foreign contracted project volume increased by 20% compared with 2005, and its technological content increased by 25%, effectively stimulating the county's economic growth. At present, the Xiaoxian Economic Development Zone has planned and constructed an anti-corrosion industrial park, hoping to attract investment, focus on the development of anti-corrosion materials and products, extend the industrial chain, and promote the transformation of the industry from diversified construction to construction.
