(1) The seasonal variation trend of soil water content of the three covered treatments was consistent. The soil water content fluctuates most in the 0-10cm soil layer. With the increase of soil depth, the fluctuation is more and more weak. (2) The treatment of organic matter covering 3cm was higher than that of the blank control in all four soil layers, while the increase amount was the most in 10-20cm and 20-30cm soil layers; the organic material covering 5cm was only significantly higher than the blank in 0-10cm soil layer. Control. (3) The seasonal trends of soil temperature in different treatments were consistent. Treatments covering organic matter of 3 cm and 5 cm decreased soil temperature by 2.0° C. and 0.9° C. in the hot summer and 0.9° C. and 1.4° C. in the cold winter season relative to the blank control. (4) The diurnal variation of 8:00-18:00 soil temperature in different treatments was unimodal, with the highest value at around 13:00 and the lowest at around 8:00. The daily temperature range of the soil covered by the treatment was significantly smaller than that of the blank control. The coverage of 3 cm in the spring, autumn, and winter was less than the treatment of organic matter covering 5 cm.
