On April 23, Conghua City People's Government, BYD Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as BYD) and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as GAC Group) signed an investment agreement. BYD and GAC Group will establish a joint venture in Conghua City. GAC BYD New Energy Bus Co., Ltd. (tentative name, hereinafter referred to as GAC BYD). GAC Group and BYD are the two largest automobile groups in Guangdong Province. Their rare combination of strength and strength indicates that the promotion and application of new energy vehicles in Guangzhou has entered the fast lane.
At the recent "New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities" 2014 major investment promotion conference, Zhan Qinghong, general manager of Guangzhou Automobile Group, disclosed that GAC BYD's total investment was 3 billion yuan. Among which, GAC holds 49% of the shares, while BYD holds 51% of the shares. According to the agreement that has been signed, BYD and GAC Group will build a “Guangzhou BYD new energy bus headquarters, export base and R&D center†project in Conghua Pearl Industrial Park, and vigorously develop new energy vehicles and related technologies to develop and produce pure electric buses, Hybrid buses, traditional commercial buses and key parts products. In addition to satisfying local use, the cooperation between the two sides will also be oriented toward overseas markets in the future.
According to the promotion plan for new energy vehicles in Guangzhou, by the end of 2015, the total number of new energy vehicles to be promoted in Guangzhou will strive to reach 10,000 vehicles, of which 2,000 buses will be promoted. BYD has a leading technology in new energy vehicles. BYD's self-developed iron battery is used in its pure electric bus K9. The battery life is 300 kilometers under full electric conditions. Currently, it has been exported to the Netherlands, Brazil, Israel, and the United States. GAC Group has mature passenger car technology and production experience, and both parties can be described as strong and strong.
