The National Restaurant Association reported Wednesday that industry organizations report that more than a third of consumers said they prefer to use technology-related restaurants. According to a nationwide consumer survey earlier this month, one-third of consumers using smartphones said they would use a smartphone application to pay instead of using cash. The catering industry seems to have consistently attempted to use technology to attract other tech-savvy customers. On Tuesday, Taco Bell Restaurant launched a new application that can be ordered and paid for by customers. The app allows consumers to see waiting time.
Most smartphone users indicate that they use their device to view menus, read online reviews, or order foods through the app. Consumers who use their smartphones to find restaurant information at least once a week do not seem to have much difference in age. 15% of all adults use their smartphones to view nutrition information at least once a week, 14% in the 18 to 34 age group, and 12% in those over 65 years old. About 15% of people said that they did not make smartphones to find restaurants because they chose more and more, and they did not know what to do.
