Texas Instruments Introduces Temperature Sensors for High Accuracy Measurements

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has announced a TMP275 low-power digital output temperature sensor with +/-0.5°C accuracy. It is suitable for high-precision temperature measurement in a variety of fields including communications, computing, consumer, environmental, industrial, and instrumentation applications.

The high accuracy of the TMP275 makes heat dissipation and power management more efficient, while its low power consumption extends battery life and minimizes self-heating. Configured, the TMP275 can be used in a variety of systems, including battery-powered devices, HVAC devices, laptops, cell phones, and base stations.

The TMP275 has an accuracy of +/-0.5°C (maximum) from +10°C to +85°C and +/-0.75°C (maximum) from 0°C to +100°C. Its two-wire serial interface is compatible with I2C or SMBus. Other features include 50uA power dissipation, 9 to 12-bit programmable resolution, 0.1uA shutdown current mode, excellent stability over temperature, and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The device also allows up to eight different addresses for high flexibility in interface bus design.
